Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (Gore Verbinski, 2025)

The director who made his name with the lucrative first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and then lost all goodwill with the truly dire The Lone Ranger and A Cure for Wellness, now has to work his socks off to get back into some credit, and taking the piss out of the chronically worn-out time loop concept seems like a promising way to go about doing so. It helps that he's cast comedy nutjob for hire Sam Rockwell as the hobo who bursts into an L.A. diner one evening and proclaims that he'll blow them all up unless a chosen few of them join him in saving the future of mankind from the menace of AI. It gets predictably more and more hectic after that, the motley assortment of heroes pursued by murderous hordes of teenagers zombified by their mobile phones, and even sillier when gigantic animals try to kill them all too.
It turns out that the countdown they're racng against isn't about a bomb, but the minutes remaining until the birth of an AI that will make Skynet look like a pussycat.
Naturally all time travel/apocalypse through technology/alternate reality films are plundered with glee along the way, and no profound conclusion can be expected, but it is much, much more fun in its sincere daftness than Everything Everywhere All at Once, which of course it also gives a nod to.
